At present working as an Executive Editor in the Renowned Punjabi Daily Ajit since 11th May, 1984.  During this span of 27 years, he has written countless articles on literary, cultural and political problems of Punjab, which have been published in the various newspapers and magazines.  He also write so many articles on India-Pakistan Relations and other International issues.

Organisational Work

:

To give vent to the feelings and to air their views on burning issues like Human rights, federalism and democracy S.S. Manak along with other intellectuals formed an intellectual forum known as ‘Punjab Jagriti Manch’ which conducted various seminars on the problems facing the State.  He is the life member of Kendri Punjabi Lekhak Sabha.

 

 

To reduce tensions in the two nations i.e. India and Pakistan S.S. Manak has been instrumental in establishing ‘Hind-Pak Dosti Manch’ (Indo-Pak forum for peace and friendship).  It is noteworthy that apart from arranging seminars and discussions to bring about peace and amity between the two nations, the members of this Forum, along with many Indian and Pakistani national leaders intellectuals, writers, journalists and peaceniks, go to the Indo-Pak Border every year to light candles - a gesture of goodwill and friendship.  He is playing important role for the promotion of Punjabi Language and Culture in the State.  He is also working to awaken the people about climate change & environmental pollution.

He has attended many National and International Conferences in Delhi, Islamabad, Colombo, Dhaka and Kathmandu.  He is the Executive Member  of the Indian Chapter of South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA) and he is also the Convener of SAFMA’s East Punjab Unit. He has covered thrice, Saarc Summits for Ajit Group of Newspapers held at Kathmandu, Islamabad and Colmbo.  He also visited Newzealand and Bangladesh.

Awards and Honours

:

Owing to his valuable contribution in the field of Journalism.  S.S. Manak has been honoured by Bharti Kisan Union, ‘Punjabi Sath’ Lambra and Dr. Sadhu Singh Hamdard Sabhiacharak Manch (Nawanshahr).  Apart from it, many other organisations have bestowed upon him various honours for his scintillating performance.  He was honoured by Majlis-a-Bulleh Shah, Kasur and Maqsood Kadharposh Trust, Lahore (Pakistan).  He was also honoured by Govt. of Punjab with his prestigious Shiromani Patarkar Award in the year 1999.
